  57. 1.3 SUBMITTALS
  58.

  69. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
  70.  
  71.     A.  Qualifications:
  72.         1.  Manufacturer:  A firm with not less than 10 years
  73.             experience in manufacturing the products specified in
  74.             this Section.
  75.         2.  Applicator:  A firm with not less than 3 years
  76.             experience in the application of the products
  77.             specified in this Section.
  78.  
  79.     B.  Mock-Ups:
  80.         1.  Apply specified products to sample panels as directed
  81.             by the Architect to determine acceptability of
  82.             appearance and optimum coverage rate required for
  83.             application.
  84.         2.  After materials have cured in accordance with
  85.             manufacturer's recommendations, water test surface to
  86.             determine that sufficient water repellent has been
  87.             applied to repel liquid water.
  88.         3.  Do not begin application of water repellents to the
  89.             work until the mock-up has been approved by the
  90.             Architect.
  91.  
  92.     C.  Pre-Installation Conference: Prior to application of
  93.         water repellents, hold a meeting at the job site with
  94.         representatives of the manufacturer and the applicator.
  95.         Notify the Owner and the Architect at least 3 days in
  96.         advance of the time of the meeting.
  97.  
  98. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
  99.  
  100.     A.  Packaging and Shipping: Deliver materials in original
  101.         sealed containers, clearly marked with manufacturer's
  102.         name, brand name, and type of material.
  103.  
  104.     B.  Acceptance at Site: Verify that the product delivered
  105.         matches the product applied to the approved mock-up.
  106.  
  107.     C.  Storage and Protection:
  108.         1.  Store and handle materials in accordance with
  109.             manufacturer's written instructions.
  110.         2.  Store materials indoors and away from sparks and open
  111.             flame in a secure area to prevent tampering and
  112.             contamination.  Do not allow water-based materials to
  113.             freeze.
  114.  
  115. 1.6 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  116.  
  117.     A.  Provide products that comply with federal, state, and
  118.         local volatile organic compounds (VOC) regulations.
  119.  
  120.     B.  Do not apply water repellents to surfaces below 40
  121.         degrees F or above 95 degrees F unless recommended by the
  122.         manufacturer.
  123.  
  124.     C.  Do not apply water repellents when rain is predicted
  125.         within 48 hours or less than 5 days after surface has
  126.         been wet.
  127.  
  128.     D.  Do not apply water repellents in high or gusty winds.
  129.  
  130. 1.7 SCHEDULING
  131.  
  132.     A.  Notify the Architect not less than 48 hours before each
  133.         application of water repellent.
  134. NOTE ** Delete the following article if no warranty is
  135.         required, or if water repellent work is covered
  136.         under the terms of a general project warranty
  137.         specified elsewhere.  You may wish to edit the
  138.         article to obtain a warranty from the contractor,
  139.         only, or to suit other project-specific criteria.

  141. 1.8 WARRANTY
  142.  
  143.     A.  The Contractor and the installer shall jointly and
  144.         severally warrant water repellents against failure in
  145.         material and workmanship for a period of 5 years from the
  146.         date of Substantial Completion.

  151. 2.1 MANUFACTURERS
  152.  
  153.     A.  Provide water repellents manufactured by Chemprobe
  154.         Technologies, Inc.; 2805 Industrial Land, Garland, TX

  158. 2.2 PRODUCTS
  159.  
  160.     A.  General: All products shall contain siloxane.  No
  161.         fillers, sterates, or paraffins.  Products containing
  162.         siloxane only, shall have a range of 3 to 7 percent
  163.         solids.  Silane-siloxane blend products shall contain
  164.         minimum 15 percent solids.
  165. NOTE ** Refer to Chemprobe's product data sheets or contact
  166.         a Chemprobe representative to determine the
  167.         appropriate water repellent to be specified.  Edit
  168.         this list to retain only those products to be
  169.         included in the work.

  171.     B.  Solvent Based Siloxane: Prime A Pell 200.

  173.     C.  Water Based Siloxane: Prime A Pell H2O Block Formula.

  187. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  188.  
  189.     A.  Verification of Conditions:
  190.         1.  Do not apply water repellents to surfaces that
  191.             contain liquid or frozen water.
  192.         2.  Verify that new masonry and mortar has cured for at
  193.             least 21 days.
  194.         3.  Verify that all sealants have been installed.
  195.  
  196. 3.2 PREPARATION
  197.  
  198.     A.  Protection:
  199.         1.  Prevent water repellent fumes from entering the
  200.             building being treated, turn off ventilation system
  201.             and close fresh air intakes.
  202.         2.  Protect shrubs, metal, wood trim, glass, asphalt, and
  203.             hardware during application of water repellents.
  204.         3.  Do not permit spray mist or liquid to drift onto
  205.             adjacent properties.
  206.  
  207.     B.  Surface Preparation: Prepare surface so that it is free
  208.         of cracks, dirt, oils, paint, and other contaminants that
  209.         may affect the appearance and performance of the water
  210.         repellents.
  211.  
  212. 3.3 APPLICATION
  213.  
  214.     A.  General: Apply water repellents in accordance with
  215.         manufacturer's printed instructions.
  216.  
  217.  
  218.     B.  Apply water repellents using low pressure spray equipment
  219.         designed for water repellent application.
  220.  
  221.     C.  Apply water repellents as shipped by the manufacturer, do
  222.         not dilute.
  223.  
  224.     D.  Apply water repellents evenly until surface is totally
  225.         saturated.  Coverage rates are dependent on surface
  226.         material.  Only one saturation coat is required.
  227.  
  228. 3.4 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
  229.  
  230.     A.  After water repellent has dried for 24 hours at low
  231.         humidity and a temperature between 70 and 90 degrees F or
  232.         for 48 hours at high humidity and a temperature between
  233.         50 and 69 degrees F., test all surfaces with a water
  234.         spray.  Recoat areas that indicate water absorption.
